UST Junior High School General Information and Instutional Structure
Today is the second day I woke up in Philippines and we have orientation in UST Junior High School. We went there at 08.40. We are kindly welcomed by the headmaster and cooperating teachers. UST Junior High School is part of University of Santo Tomas located in Espana Blvd., Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines 1008. The Junior High School consist of 4 grade in Philippine grade standard, the grades are VII,VIII,IX and X. UST Junior High School has 10 section (classess) for each grade. Every section named after Saint of the Catholic Church. We can identify the grade by the first letter after “St.”. Letter A for grade 7, B for grade 8, C for grade 9 and D for grade 10. For example St. Agnes (grade 7), St. Bernadine (grade 8), St. Crispin (grade 9) and St. Denise (grade 10).
UST Junior High
School has 3 floors. The first floor is lobby, cafetaria, conference rooms,
robotic room and faculty room. On the second floor there are grade 9 and 10
classess, library, computer laboratory. On the third floor there are grade 7
and 8 classess, Benedive Auditorium, Audio-visual Room There are a huge box
made by wood and glassess on each floor. The function of those boxes are for
lost and found things. Every student who found
something that dropped randomly around the school, have to put it. It helps
student finding their missing stuff
Vision
The UST Junior High
School, adhering to the mission and vision of the University of which it is a
part, envisions itself in the next five years to live up to its vocation as a
Christian, Catholic, evangelizing, Filipino and educational community, with its
tradition of excellence involving its academic and non-academic staff,
dedicated to the holistic formation of its students in the secondary level
in competence, commitment, and compassion.
Mission
The UST Junior High
School, proud of its tradition and conscious of its role to share in the
mission of the University of Santo Tomas, under the inspiration and patronage
of its model St. Thomas Aquinas, affirms and avows its commitment to the cause
of education in the secondary level, and to the formation of our students in
the Faith for the purpose of preparing them for tertiary education, being
molded as true Thomasians and becoming responsible citizens dedicated to the
service of God, the country, and the whole world.
Goals
Our mission is defined by
the following goals:

Integral formation of our
students;

Cultivation of Christian
values necessary for the formation of a right social conscience;
3.
Development of professional
sound expertise in guiding, counseling, and nurturing our students’ passion for
knowledge;
4.
Appreciation,
preservation, enrichment, and propagation of Filipino cultural heritage rooted
in a sense of history and tradition;
5.
Recognition of the role of
individuals in the University, local community, country, and the environment.
Objectives
The UST Junior High
School aims to:
1. Mold the students into total human persons by providing them the best
educational program possible in an atmosphere conducive to intellectual,
spiritual, moral, social, cultural, and physical development;
2. Provide the students with the necessary education in order that they may
become well-disciplined persons whose deportment is in harmony with Christian
ideals and teachings;
3. Help the students develop a sense of Christian leadership and service whose
primary concern is the welfare of others;
4. Cultivate in the students a genuine and fervent nationalist sense and,
5. Provide the adolescent students an all-around, sound, balanced, and challenging
curriculum, not only suited to their talents and abilities, but also determined
to bring out the best in them and make them responsible adults in the future.
